A second hands-on reviewer rates web filtering this app's weakest function: across multiple categories it failed to flag sites that clearly should have been blocked, even when the same visits were logged under a blocked category in the activity timeline. He recommends it for recording where a child has been rather than for preemptively restricting visits.
The reviewer found 10 of 29 website categories blocked by default, each settable to allow, block or alert; new categories cannot be added, though individual sites can be excepted.
App blocking only reaches apps the child has already opened: the reviewer found Qustodio adds an app to the manageable list when it is first launched rather than listing what is installed, so a parent must respond to each new app as it appears or launch every app on the device by hand. Once an app is on the list he found the controls worked as advertised and took effect quickly.
On iOS the reviewer's own time block was bypassable: his iPhone 12 showed a lost-phone style alert offering only emergency calling and the flashlight, and he swiped it away without difficulty. Activity during the blocked window still appears in the timeline, so a parent can see the limit was not kept.
Calls and messages monitoring is Android-only and no longer ships in the Play Store build: the reviewer reports Google now prevents Qustodio from including it, so a parent must sideload a separate version from Qustodio's own website onto the child's phone and restart it.
Once enabled the reviewer found call blocking and SMS reading worked as advertised, and that this was the only app in his recent test group still offering either. Text messages themselves cannot be blocked, and MMS photo and video messages are not captured.
The reviewer's geofences are circles centred on an address you type, 350 to 650 feet in diameter, with alerts on entry and exit. He found location checks less frequent on iOS than Android, pinging roughly every five minutes.

Cloudwards says it tested the app and found an intuitive interface and broad features; it also notes platform-limited features. Tom's Guide adds a second hands-on account and reaches a harsher verdict on the same feature set: web filtering that repeatedly failed to flag sites it should have blocked, a time block on iOS that the reviewer swiped away on his own iPhone, and app blocking that only sees an app once the child has launched it — set against calls and texts that worked as advertised and were the only such feature left among the apps he tested recently, though they now need a build sideloaded from Qustodio's own site. Two independent hands-on reviews, and they disagree.
