My wife put the Nanit on our registry and it was purchased for us, so I shelled out 0 actual dollars, and shouldn't complain. However, I'm not sure I get what the hype is about.

Just make sure you buy a cheap ‘dumb’ baby monitor for travelling if you ever plan on staying in a hotel in the next few years. It’s a nightmare getting it to work on a managed wifi network.
